- Mon Aug 25, 2008 8:58 pm #67305 hey guys, i have a '94 EX and the rear window defroster does not work. now i've already busted out the multimeter and got back there and tested the voltages. when i first bought the car the tab was hanging down so i thought oh easy fix and i got some conductive epoxy and stuck it back on there.

Well i waited for a rainy day and nothing, not even a few lines worked. so afterwards with the meter, the light to the switch comes on and the positive lead wire all the way to the bus bar gets 14V when tested with the return lead on the opposite side bus bar. i tested for voltages in or on any grid line and there is nothing, 0V on all gridlines but the entire bus bar is powered.....

so this leaves me to conclude that the switch, timer and relay all work properly? just that the entire grid is busted? well it's starting to turn rainy and i kinda need it to see

anyone have any advice? thanks a bunch!

there was some horribly bubbling tint like a yellow-ish color that seemed to do nothing but restrict my vision, it makes me wonder if in the application of this they somehow damaged it?

so i'm confused as what i need to do, if i need to get a whole new grid? does the 14V at the poles mean all the wiring is good?

Your wiring is good. Like DC4rob said, you should have had it soldered. If you can strip back the epoxy and get it done than great, it might work then.
If not, you can buy like a little tub of this electrical stuff which you basically paint on, bit like epoxy however slightly different ad available from any autoparts store. It is only to be used for the lines however. And the application of the tints may have fucked it up, just trial and error and eliminate everything that it could be
