#145060 Ok I am trying to swap my D15Z1 out for a D16Z6 and I have everything out or disconnected (including the bitch pin), but how do I get the ball joints off so I can get the axles out and finish this swap?

The Chilton isn't much help, but it does mention the Honda tool to do it, but I can't figure out exactly what it is or how it works, any help would be great.

#145064 BFH.

Big Fucking Hammer.

Put a nut on the stud of the ball joint and pound the hell out of the nut, not the stud.

You could also use a prybar between the knuckle and the lower control arm and pry with all your might.

Ball joints are not just plug and play, they're pretty well solid in place due to the torque applied by the castlated nut.

#145070 hondas its easy. my teacher told me a way where you get 2 hammers. hold one hammer on the other side of the LCA and way the LCA with the hammer. supposedly the vibration travels through it making it shake loose. took 3 swings when i did an accord at school

so go Hammer , balljoint. then wack on the side, hard to explain, but just wack the side of the LCA and NOT!!! the rubber balljoint itself.

#145085 i use a craftsman rachet. because they're handle is flat not round.
round won't work.
take 1 minute, works every time and doesnt f*ck up ball joint.
1. undo cotter pin.
2. remove castle nut.
3. place floor jack under the bolt the castle nut was on and raise up until you can fit the craftsman rachet handle in between the LCA and the spindle shoulder.
4. lower jack and move it out of the way.
5. kick down hard on the hub.(you need to be wearing shoes)
ball joint will be separated.
