#161752 On the OBD1 cars, OUR CIVICS, the ckp( crank position sensor) is in the Distributor. If that is bad, The reasons you get a code 04, you will need to pick up a new distributor.

The ECT, coolant temp sensor is on the the Thermostate housing. Check to see if it is plugged in. You can clear see it with out any real problems. THe ECT code will be a 06.

#162330 Cam rotates half the speed of the crank. 2 rotations of the crankshaft, 1 rotation of the cam shaft. Reason why the crank gear is half the diameter of the cam gear(s).

The CKP is inside the distributor housing, like the other guys said. It's a magnetic pickup. Pull the cap and rotor off the distributor and then pull the splash guard off. You should see what looks similar to a snail shell type thing with a tang sticking off of it. That's what the sensor detects when #1 cyl is at TDC compression stroke. If I had a picture, I would post it. But I don't...

Mechanics of old call it the magnetic pickup coil.
