Cam rotates half the speed of the crank. 2 rotations of the crankshaft, 1 rotation of the cam shaft. Reason why the crank gear is half the diameter of the cam gear(s).
The CKP is inside the distributor housing, like the other guys said. It's a magnetic pickup. Pull the cap and rotor off the distributor and then pull the splash guard off. You should see what looks similar to a snail shell type thing with a tang sticking off of it. That's what the sensor detects when #1 cyl is at TDC compression stroke.
