#152607 My b16 Ek Needs more torque. I want to either make a ls/VTEC with my USDM B16a2 Pistons, or a b20VTEC.

I have gone back and forth about which way to go for a good while now. Right now I am tempted to do the ls/VTEC. I would be importing a JDM Engine to make into my hybrid. Be it a 99Spec b20b(like our USDM b20z) or an JDM ODB2 B18b.

I will be going N/A, with possible nitrous down the road. I will be doing mainly circuit driving.

I will be having the car tuned on Hondata s300, And be matched to my LSD B16 Transmission.

I know whats involved in making the engines, I just need help deciding on which path to go down. The b20's have more torque, but less aftermarket support, I also can reuse my b16 pistons to bump up CR. The b18 will have less torque but can reuse my b16 pistons to make up for it which a higher CR.

#152627 The B20 has just as much aftermarket as the B18B. It's the same engine except for the stock pistons and cylinders. Essentially. You bore a B18B out to 84mm and you have a B20 with a B18B stamp on it.

If you choose B20, make sure you get it sleeved before mating to your B16 tranny. It won't like speed at which the RPMs increase with the B16 transmission. As you probably know by now.

Like you said, you can reuse your B16A2 pistons in the B18B, which will save you money in the long run. IMO, that's the best way to go. The engine responds well to abuse.
