- Wed Nov 14, 2012 12:46 am #319907 So I have a d16y7 full motor with transmission that's good and a z6 head that I can use as well... so my plan was to use the d16y7 transmission and block with the z6 head like a mini me... or should I find a different transmission? And what do I need to upgrade to get in the 300 HP range? I'm going turbo route for this and I went it to be reliable as well... obviously I have the basics like intake, headers, and exhaust... I just need internals... any help would be appreciated... thanks!

- Wed Nov 14, 2012 4:10 am #319932 Your kinda running on borrowed time with boosted y7 blocks. They are by far the weakest oil pumps and is usually the cause of failure on turboed ones. The Si trans is the better since the shorter gears will work fine with the low tq, 300 is a obtainable goal but not on a stock d16 at least reliable wise.

I usually see about 180-210whp max on stock motors and depending on tuner, parts used and how you drive could last you a good bit. I'd just drop a z6 in and do a vitara kit
