- Thu Jul 28, 2011 8:49 pm #265405 I sold my rhd Evolution because I have a serious Honda problem haha, I replaced it with this 99 SI coupe.

I purchased the car about 3 months ago from a lady that bought the car new from the local Honda dealership. This car was parked for little over a year due to a blown engine. Previous owner blew a rod threw the block twice!

Anyways I picked it up for next to nothing and started to tear it apart.
Trying to keep this build under budget. My budget is $3,000 including the purchase of the car.

First day home


Car came with a set of 17" Konig Zeroes, Brospeed catback, tyc tail lights, injen cold air, kenwood audio all around. She also threw it a dc header and stock tail lights *thank god* lol

I sold all of the parts off the car except the audio gear. I wanted to build this car to my style. The money I got from selling the parts brought my budget up quite a bit which was awesome!

Started to take her all apart...







So we pulled out the old y8 and dropped in a nice jdm b20 with 5spd gsr transmission. Car was originally automatic.





Took the car outside to pressure wash the engine bay

Picked up a gsr tranny for cheap



All jacked up to do the brakes and exhaust


Was able to get a Apexi WS2 catback local for next to nothing, was pretty excited since I have the same exhaust on my hatchback.



Had to change up the intake manifold, so I bought a Integra one and had it glass beaded.



Bought a new oem replacement clutch and flywheel



Some parts I needed for the auto to 5spd swap





Nice 5spd EL cluster


Interior is still currently a disaster, im working on that this weekend. I still have to wire up my reverse lights and the neutral.







Engine was dropped in last week, along with my old Mugen header I use to have on my hatchback



Bought a set of blackworks lower control arms, to replace the worn out ones





I also went with a set of Yonaka full coilovers. These were a really good deal for the quality. Would recommend.



So as of now im waiting for my ITR wheels to arrive, in the mean time I picked up some nice prelude wheels.



and the car sits like this ... I did a clay bar and wax over the week. Paint turned out pretty good fro being so old.

hmm guess it must be a Canadian thing but our si came with the b16.

Yes it is deferent from the united states.

Our Canadian SI model 99-00 came with a y8 vtec, the SIR model came with the b16.
