yumm... it's what for dinner

Image

broke them apart after 7 minutes in the oven...

so i got a NICE package from retrofitsource.com and got the FX-R stage 3 kit... 4300K bulbs, morimoto ballasts, awesome!

here is the retrofit process....
Image

Image

Image

this is the cutoff line which makes it where you don't blind others and this is the point where you have to match up the cutoff line of the new projector to the halogen old cutoff
Image

i painted the inside crome pieces and my fog light housing low-gloss black
Image

so here is a rough view of finished ...
Image

got them installed...

here is a shot with the fogs... they rock!!!! love having 4 HID's

#249629 so today (Sunday) i took some time to install my front lip...wrap the rest of my DP and some minor things...

here is another pic of my headlight, turned on:

here is the lip installed:
Image

Image

outside...kinda dark tho

annnnnd here is my DP that has been getting a lot of action lately...sadly
Image

sooo question????

what should i do about the color of the lip? should i paint it white with the bumper so they will be the same color? i kind of like how it accents the fog housings, headlight housings and wheels.. what do y'all think?

#249635 i say leave it black it matches the grill and fogs nicely. great retro fit btw i would love to have tsx projectors and ballasts my self.

#250088 i love the hid retrofit, thats awesome.

The black lip seams to fit up front, however if its white it will make your car look lower. I like them both ways. If it was my car it would go white though.

I love how the car keeps progressing. It looks good. :thumb:

thanks man, the retrofit was kind of a bitch only because i had to go back and open the driver's headlight because it wasn't level, it was rotated off like 5 degrees or so.

you might want to look at the setup i have, it's a bi-xenon as i believe the tsx projectors are only low beam? might want to look into that, the high beams on these things are amazing! :thumb:

i'm thinking that it looks good being black but my whole bumper needs to be re-sprayed so i don't quite know, i like the black and white theme i have going on...

and thanks man!

*********

So i'm autocrossing at PIR on saturday which should be a blast, i'm curious as to how this car will do vs. my old one. i didn't roll my fender in the rear which made my travel limited. i gotta go around some roundabouts to figure it out..haha :hehe:

hey man, the auto-x went pretty well! i did better than the previous car but the turbo almost came off on the drive home lol... so i fixed it.....

**** update

so before my trip to Jamaica on the day of the meet at the shop, my turbo bolts loosened up enough to pretty much have it not connected and a huge leak.

so i was pissed at it after it took 3 stops to replace bolts on the way home from seattle and parked it until i got back from:

Image

so after i got back i tore everything apart .. AGAIN
Image

noticed i had a pretty big leak where the manifold meets the cylinder head:
Image

so since i stripped one of the 4 bolts on the 4 bolt turbo flange i re drilled and tapped the holes to 1/2-13 UNC thread so my options for fastening would be greater.
Image

as a person suggested, i got the cast manifold machined at a local shop:
Image

Image

--> so i went to the hardware store and got some 1/2" studs, stainless jam nuts and washers, however, i had to re-drill the turbine housing and grind a significant portion of turbine away to accomodate these large ass nuts.

ANNND i got these badass washers from mcmaster-carr...
Image

i watched this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwmuZuJ02I

they work great so far.. about 2 weeks of heat cycles...

#259639 As you can, i have my double JAM nuts and sweet ass washers:

Image

can see where i ground the housing to be able to get a wrench on it:

Image

Image

i even cut out my hood to accomodate my wastegate:

Image

i Drive the Shit out of this thing.. getting close to 200k! :TU:

Image

so that's about all i have done in the last 2 months.. just driving it about 60 miles a day

#259704 Nice update. Manifold leaks are never good, getting it machined was the correct call sir. Glad every thing fixed up nicely.

#259765 Sorry to hear about it coming undone on you. Especally on the way home.

I'm happy to see it put all back together. I like the double nuts on the manifold. Its not coming loose agian. :thumb:

yeah thanks man.. i think it was a good call, i think i have a pinhole leak or something somewhere in the piping because it smells in the car at stop lights so i gotta trace that one down, rotate my tyres and i'm getting new front brakes :thumb:

yeah it was pretty lame, but these nord-lock washers really seem to be doing the trick and i use the double nuts as sort of a visual indication too... how has the sol been doing?

*update*

SO i ordered new brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads for the front and i'm going to be getting some re-man'ed calipers when i get these bad boys in...
the steering wobbles when braking so i know my rotors are warped and i'm doing it right this time :D i have new calipers and good rotors/pads in the back
