1-low-92-EG-Sedan wrote:ok so i have some fun updates...well i think its fun any ways..haha

got in my new motor mounts got them off ebay...figured id take a shot and see how they work...a friend got a set and work great for about a year now..hopefully i have the same luck..

also i originally ordered a new shift knob, boot and dual bend short shifter for the EK..but i figured id just keep it for my car now :thumb: :thumb: i only installed the knob for now..ill do the boot and shifter when i do the motor swap..
also got in my energy suspension bushings for the B series shift linkage and my LS obd1 ECU for the new motor

AND i got my ARP head studs in the mail a while back(not sure if i mentioned it already but all well...

the head is all finished and looks great..im going to pick it up tomorrow next up is the trans..i dropped that off at a buddys shop to open it up and make sure everything is in good condition..

after that its time for the block to go to the machine shop as well...still not sure on what extent i will be doing the bottom end considering i can just change to a vtec head at a later date...

soo no pics at the moment but will have some at a later date :thumb: :thumb:

thanks for following my build :woot:

if you're considering an ls-vtec at any point, these links are extremely useful. especially if you haven't done anything to the block yet.

i have actually read most of those links at one time or another...but really do appreciate you posting them up...and i think i might go LS/V at some point..thats why i have not done the block yet..still researching the best things to do

lol yeah i think anyone who has considered ls/vtec has read those

#324139 ok so my i was told that next year for x-mas and my b-day (Jan 2) i will be getting a built vtec head for my ls block and was told to make sure i build my block 150% so when time comes the block will be able to handle the power from the head... :thumb: ...so i was looking at getting eagle rods and wiseco pistons...but im not sure what compression ratio i should get my pistons...it will be an all motor build i dont really plan on going turbo..i think its to many moving parts and to much to break for me right now  ...im going to bore out the block to 81.5mm and was thinking of getting wiseco part # K593M815 http://realstreetperformance.com/store/ ... 0b-92.html ....not getting from this exact site...just to show you guys for reference...any thoughts....this is my first performance build...keep in mind i will be running stock ls head for a while till i get the vtec head...will that comp. ratio be to much for the ls head??

#325357 update

ok so im getting just over $1,100 for tax returns....so im going to buy my pistons and rods and get the block machine work done and what ever i have left over will go to my trans that is sitting at the shop...

but i have some questions and hopefully some one could help me out here..im thinking of going with wiseco 11.8:1 - 12.4:1 with a bore size of 81.5
is this safe to run with a rebuilt stock LS head?? or should i do a step down and get 11.1:1 - 11.6:1 with a bore size of 81.5???

and how do i go about tuning the car?? i have a stock obd1 P75 ecu...do i need to buy a chip or can it be tuned as is??

any insight or criticism is welcome..it is my first performance build and want it done right..any help is welcome...thanks in advance

#327674 soo i unfortunately have to put a hold on my LS build for now..my Y8 motor is not lasting as long as i was hoping for..i did a compression test and my numbers were not so pleasant.. cylinder #1 130psi #2 50psi #3 50psi #4 150psi...the car still runs..but just barely..

i just ordered new rings, arp head studs and will be getting head gasket set tomorrow, i will also be getting the whole head redone while its off and i will give the cylinder walls a nice cross hatch my self with a ball hone...i should be doing the work within the next week or so....

so instead of pistons and rods for my LS build im doing a quick re-ring on my Y8  ...but hopefully it will run strong and im sure ill get alot more power out of it considering im running on 2 cylinders  ...the power gain should satisfy my needs for the time being...and this should give me plenty of time to build my LS motor the smart and proper way

in a way im kind of excited to see how much power i will gain back

#327689 if theres 2 cylinders next to each other low on compression maybe its a blown head gasket? might be wrong though, just to give an idea maybe :)

i just did the head gasket not to long ago..but to be honest i didnt get any machine work done..i just cleaned both surfaces and put in a new gasket...so it is very possible..because i did a compression test before i did the first head gasket and the readings were similar just not so low in numbers...but the way i see it i might as well do it all and that should clear up all my problems for this motor

but i greatly appreciate your input...its always good for people to voice there opinions in a positive way and thats why i love this site :thumb:

and as far as pictures i finally uploaded some pics to my flicker account to share them here...some are from a little photo shoot i had with some euro friends lol and others are instagram and what not...and the last three are of my B18B1 valve cover that i painted my self...enjoy

#329235 so i came across a good deal for a rear disk conversion for my car so i went ahead and spent the money on it instead of my motor...but it only cost me $150...and most people are asking almost $300 around my area so i had to jump on the deal...i cant wait to put them in
