Shorter Gears mean better acceleration. Having a longer gear transmission will help stop wheel spin and give you a higher top end.

Any Traction issues? Get slicks, Still traction issues? Do a burn out on some grape soda before hand to help stickyness? Still have traction issues? Get a Traction bar? Still having issues? well then dont launch so high.

No mater what way to try to spin facts a B16 tranny will accelerate then a GSR Tranny, which is faster then a LS Tranny.

Please don't promote misinformation or try to con people out of stuff. Its not cool.

#140323 I was joking about the trading of the transmissions. Seriously. No conning here. I promise.

When it comes to boost, the higher gearing of the transmission will not necessarily allow the turbo to spool fully due to the short period of time under full load. The longer gears of the GSR transmission will allow the engine to stay in the power band longer and allow the turbo to spool completely and faster.

I have driven an LS/VTEC on boost with an LS tranny against an ITR on boost with an ITR tranny (same gearing as B16 tranny, just beefier components). The LS/VTEC was pushing 22psi consistent from 3500rpm-8500rpm. The ITR would peak at 18psi from 5500rpm-9000rpm. Dynos of the two show that the LS/VTEC was in it's power band from 4000rpm to 8400rpm then a slight dropoff at 8500rpm. The ITR was in it's power band from 5500rpm-9000rpm. When we swapped the ITR tranny out for a GSR tranny, he immediately picked up 65hp and 4psi boost. I'm not saying the tranny swap was a power adder. I am saying that the longer gears gave the engine the chance to make more power for a longer period of time.

Almost forgot, the LS/VTEC on boost stomped the ITR on boost. They both made the same PEAK power of around 370whp +/- 5hp. When the GSR tranny came along, the ITR destroyed the LS/VTEC both on the 1/4mi and on the dyno with 440whp. Nothing changed except for the gearing and the subsequent tuning to ensure proper anti-knock qualities of the fuel and timing. Both use the same fuel, E85.

For NA, shorter gearing is the tits. Hence why I said (jokingly) that I would trade him my LS tranny for his B16 tranny. I'm building an NA LS/VTEC.

x2

Looks awesome.

How much harder does this pull then your B16?

B16 it's like nothing compared to this :thumb:

Only thing I would have done different is using a GSR tranny instead of the super short gearing of the B16 tranny.

As chance would have it, I have an LS tranny (better for huge power on boost) that I would be willing to trade you for your B16 tranny :D

Just can't help but love the B-series. Especially in a light as hell car like that.

B16 tranny is very short indeed, i've noticed it now haha :D

Trading is good, but the shipping makes it unpleasant

The huge wastegate is from HKS.

#140416 Shipping is a bitch...especially international...and especially an item of this magnitude.

How much boost are you running? I'm hoping you have it tuned by now, right?

#140553 Before it was started the "tuning man" had his laptop plugged in already :P It is tuned with Neptune.

I'm running 6psi now and sometimes 7.xx psi cuz of the boostcreep.

I'm going to install an ebc with 6psi low boost and 10psi high boost.

#140585 Mmm...you're going to love the torque of the B20B on 10lbs. You won't want to stay in low boost. It could get you in trouble. :D

#140594  [smilie=notworthy.gif] looking damn good bouli! seeing ur car makes me want to boost mine that much more! :thumb: i cant wait to see how you do in the 1/4 mile :hehe:

#140620 boost and b20s dont always get along good. keep the boost low and it should be fine.

GSR tranny would be better for boost than the B16a for sure!!

#140644 GreasedMonkey knows what I'm talkin' about on the tranny.

And yeah, Boost + B20B + Stock cylinders = recipe for disaster over 10psi with careful tining.

Boost + B20B + Darton MID Sleeves = sex.

#140718 sleeving is what i want in the end. For now i'm going to keep it 6psi on the streets and 10psi on the strip. That is enough for me now :D

I'm going to buy a house first with my gf, then i can build the enige for boost boost boost

#141621 267.39 HP. Nice

When i was looking up the Conversion to figure that number out I also stumbled across that the 2009 Jaguar CF with its Twin Turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 makes 271PS. Your Single Turbo Inline 4 makes the same power as a Twin Turbo'd Jaguar v6. I thought you would like to know that.

Good numbers, However Power starts dropping after 6k. Your Engine wants its Twin VTEC Lobes Back.
