#297681 Ok guys and girls! Here is a little D.I.Y on changing the front coilovers.

Tools I used:

2 - 3/8 in Ratchets
2 - 17mm Reg/Deep Socket
2 - 14mm Reg/Deep Socket
1 - 12mm Socket
1 - 1/2 Combo Wrench
1 - 17mm Combo Wrench
Breaker Bar if needed
Anti-Seize Lubricant for reinstall
Ruler or Tape Measure for adjustment
Spanner Wrenches
Lug Nut Wrench
2-Jacks and Jack Stands with wood blocks

The KSports
Image

First I loosened the two front wheels lug nuts then I jacked the car up to give me some good room to work with I used a scissor jack underneth to jack the car up to where I could place some blocks and jack stands. I used another jack to lift the sides and place some more blocks. I also placed a block on the rear wheel. Safety is always first!!

Sorry no pics of doing this

Here I started by loosening the bolt (14mm) at the top of the suspension fork.

After I loosened it I went and took the bolts (12mm or 1/2 ) off the brake line holder that is attached to the strut.

Next I took the lower fork bolt (17mm) and nut off. When you get the nut off you might have to lightly tap the end of the bolt with something to get it out. Or just wiggle it out while turning the socket wrench.

Then I loosened the top strut nuts (14mm).

After this I went and lowered the fork. I also took the top strut nuts off so that I could lower the strut threw the Upper control arm. Pull the strut off or out of the fork.

Here is the strut/coilover and I left the fork there. I took it out later to wash everything down and spray new undercoating. My phone died here so I had to go and search for my camera.

Old and dirty!

Side-by-side. Tokico Blue with coliover sleeve. Ksport Kontrol Pro Full Bodied Coilover.

Here is a pic of cleaning I used Simple Green Cleaner and also scrubbed it down with a rag. I also scuffed it with some sand paper.
Image

Sorry didn't get a chance to take pics of the drivers side done.
Here is the undercoated passenger side and the KSport coliover in. I had to adjust the KSports a couple time before I had the right height I wanted. I also used a ruler to measure a couple times and at different parts of the car till I had it right.

Sorry I wanted to do the reinstall pics but was wanting to get everything back on before it got dark.

When I reinstalled I put the coilover in first and then attached the fork while the coilover was in. I had to use my other jack to lift the Front lower control arm to load the suspension.

Use Anti-seize lube on the bolts/nuts so you wont have to deal with stuck/seized bolts and nuts next time.

I then Bolted the upper suspension fork bolt up and I put the top strut nuts on but did not tighten them all the way down yet. I tightened the lower fork bolt and nut. Put the wheels on.

I had to adjust my suspension a couple times for my desired rife height. When everything was done I then tightened my upper strut bolts down, I could have done it earlier with the suspension loaded but, I have a strut bar and only one side was loaded at a time. So I waited till it was on the ground.

This is the first time writing a D.I.Y and posting it so it kinda of sucks. LOL :D

Now I need to do the rears and then go and get an Alignment! :thumb:
