Brandoff's 93 DX coupe 2.0 update page 1

- Tue Apr 24, 2012 6:07 pm #302722 so after a couple weeks of not working on the car, I started again and soon realized that she wasn't where I wanted her or where she deserved to be. so after some thought I decided its time for a new plan. since the motor work is all pretty much done, I'm going to go back and redo some things since I rushed to try and get it done to drive to work. As you all know I got a pickup for a daily so now that there's no rush I feel I can bring her up to snuff without a lot of stress. 1st on the agenda, I am going to sand the whole car back down to the factory color, I am stripping all the seals on the doors/trunk/windows and the trim and replacing them (just to make sure there is no more leaking), replacing all the suspension parts...I didn't really want to just swap over a used subframe, but time restraints then forced me to and now that I keep looking at it I feel really uneasy about driving on that suspension, back is fine, maybe some ES bushings and a refurb, but front I need all new ball joints/bushings, may just get new uca/lca , and I want to save for some f/f type 1 coils, my h&r springs aint goin low enough lol. after that I need a new bumper cover for the front, and I want some new side skirts, my passenger one is fubar and drivers aint much better, probably some mud guards. once im done making it fairly safe and have a lot of the body work done, ill probably focus my efforts on the interior, which isn't to bad, I might need new carpet, but that's about it, maybe upgrade the front seats as well. that's pretty much the plan for this summer, if I can afford it I want to replace the core support as well...mine is so jacked up I can barely shut the hood. I am excited to start doing this up.

jdm d15b vtec with ex/si 5 speed trans (black on black) roughly 35k
no name d series header 4-2-1 design
rs type high flow cat
option racing full cat back 2 1/4"
new oem fuel filter
spectre sri with red spectre filter
spectre VC filter
VMS 10.2 mm racing wires (red)
new ngk vpower plugs
painted brake master cylinder red
overflow tank holder painted red
new duralast battery (red also :lol: )
stock honda valve cover-black (no vtec badge = sleeper)

INTERIOR:

newish back seats from other eg
hurst short shifter
black and red seat covers
dual brand cd player (cheap yet effective)
lightning audio 6x9 speakers in back, stock in front

EXTERIOR:

new oem antenna block off kit
new oem hood
new oem fenders
used oem wingless trunk
used oem driver door
used oem back bumper

SUSPENSION:

used full front subframe from doner car
includes:
-steering rack
-front suspension
-brakes
H&R lowering springs
dont know what shocks i have

WHEELS/TIRES:

4 mismatched black steelies with 4 mismatched tires :(

haha thats what happens when you ghetto tow a car and your father in law gives it too much gas...broke my bumper too :x but no more hood latch i got a nice set of hood pins, rice i know but it serves a saftey purpose in this case and yeah its semi gloss black to match the bay ninja status...i been working on it for 3 months and its taken time, next i gotta redo the whole front suspension...torn axleboots, bad bushings and struts....shitty lowering springs...ughhh the dude before me didnt know shit about cars haha...thanks for all the comments guys!

- Wed Apr 25, 2012 3:31 pm #302825 wow thanks for the all the support and comments guys, i did the semi gloss engine and tranny because well it seems like it would be a common thing as black is just well easy to use, but i have seen little to no black on black combos...so i said fine ill be the lame noob who goes ninja status lol...but apprently it worked....you guys on this forum are the reason i didnt scrap my car specailly teal and the gurus who get back to me quick like when i get frustrated and confused...i really can express my gratitude for you guys putting this site together, i tried honda tech...but well lets just say they flame anyone who isnt up to snuff on the latest "trends" and here i find direct advice not dont do that thats rice or dont do that its gay, and i really love the fact you guys support people in what they do and its also awesome you guys tell people to build their cars for themselves not everyone else, granted i know people care what others think but i think this is how a real diy and tech forum should run...i recomend this site to all my civic buddys just because the knowledge/diagrams/how-tos are all SPOT ON and in depth not just some douche saying do this, then this, and its that easy when in reality its not hahha....just though id put my two cents in and thank you again to all that have helped me reach that extra mile and push forward, i finally got my motor out all the way and now im just buttoning up my wire tuck, decided to forgoe the shaved bay till i can buy a mig welder and a b16 later on, but next thing i sfront suspension so i will be on that portion of the forum alot asking noob questions, and by the way, something teal told me when i first started asking noob questions is, research is a PITA but with perserverence and good judgement you CAN find the info and 9/10 times dont need to ask questionss, but i guess thats what you guys are here for...also i just want to say that i have learned more about cars from this site, than i did in the 2 years in auto tech in highschool...sad..but again TYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTYTY a million times over for everyones support :thumb:

And You're spot on about Civic-eg, this is possibly the best honda site ever, I've never seen such a friendly amount of people who all share a love for civics. The amount of knowledge, advice and free thinking in here is amazing! Keep up the good work and keep going on the civic!

- Thu May 03, 2012 6:13 am #303678 so as some of you may know i recently started on the front suspension, and boy has that been a nightmare :thumbdown: lots of stripped bolts and bad bushings, makes me feel better knowing i had the common sense to look at everything before just swapping a motor( as was the original plan) but alas i need funds to continue so its body work and diy from here on till i get more money for suspension and some more goodies for the d15b (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing belt, water pump, maybe a oil pump/cam gear) nothing fancy, already got most the fluids and what not so thats covered, but its mainly just paint and reassembly after getting the new stuff. sorry to keep you all in suspense i will try to post some more recent pics of the body work and what not when i get to do some work tomorrow, had a weird spell of 45 degree weather here :eh: but so far its looking like hardrace UCA/LCA's, energy suspension bushings for everything else, and finally F/F type 1's for coilovers then a brake reconditioning/rotor upgrade...havent decided yet... but yes ill stop rambling now, just though id update everyone on my plans and progress, as before thanks again for the encouragement and support! :thumb:

- Thu May 03, 2012 10:04 pm #303743 so today i got out and sanded half my fender to prep for paint...and it rained...again :x soooo had to hold off today, hopefully this weekend ill have it sanded and pics uploaded....weather permitting of course, but damn...this weather :thumbdown: wish i had a shop/garage or at leat a cannopy of some sort...haha oh well...thats it for now

- Fri May 04, 2012 5:12 pm #303835 haha see i knew it wasnt just me :P but im talkin LOTS of body work, i got the rest of my hood, both fenders, trunk, i got brand new bumpers but i need to wetsand and paint those to match too, but luckily aside from a little work filling the side trim holes, the actual shell is pretty much primed and waiting for a wetsand as well...so at least i got something to do till i get money for suspension parts lol.
