Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#108794 Here is what 15psi with a spike that hit 28ish does to a d15b7, it loved 10psi, but burned a lot more oil than it did without the turbo, it lasted 2 weeks and had 325xxxKMs on it. Frosted flakes!

#108795 NICE.

I take it you had a build planned on a new motor already? :D

#108801 Even better, i was a tow truck driver with access to the shop with 2 post lift as well as an army of parts cars going to be crushed anyways, i did that to 3 engines, but that one was the most broken. Overall, with hondata s300 tune the stock engine will take up to 10psi, or about 215hp, anything more seemed to bend stock rods. Never did put holes in pistons at 15psi tho... :woot:

#110923 I like carnage pictures.

I have run upto 18psi on my stock D16z6 w/ a SC14 supercharger and just broke a couple ring lands.

I had to have the S/C on all the time and the throttle floored to barely make it home.

Lucky I did not shatter anything. My sleeves still look good so I still have a backup bottom end minus the piston rings. :D

lol heres my rule of thumb for this. (for stock motors)

act as if PSI was a PENIS.

5 psi (5 inches) really wouldnt hurt a chick

8 psi (8 inches) thats just about damn good enough and it CAN hurt some chicks (engines)

10 psi (10 inches) GOD DAMN SHE WONT LAST LONG!

12 psi (lol 12 inches) FORGET IT.

but this also depends on turbo size. example bigger turbos you can prolly only push 4 pounds vs ebay turbos push 8 to get the same results..

its a on going type of thing that can be debated all night.. theres many stock motors running on like 20 psi and shit and still running it has alot to do with LUCK and just how well the motor is from the factory over all

i am at 7 pounds with forged pistons and some block work just be on the super safe sside..

so go figure

also keep in mind the more boost you run the harder teh wear and tear is....

boost doesnt always BLOW your motor but can slowly wear it out. example top fuelers have about 7,000 horse power. and they rebuild the motor after every 1/4 mile run. reason for it is 7k hp trying to grenade the motor.. i know its a big difference from 7k to 215 but it still contributes.
