- Thu Aug 14, 2008 7:57 pm #65985 I have a friend who has a ct26 turbo, for those of you who don't know what that's from its off of a mr2, and he is trying to sell it to me with the manifold for 300??? What do you guys think of the turbo as well as the price?

-how long was it used for?
-did he turbo time or did he just shut his car off after he drove it/beat on it?
-is there any noticable problems? - shaft play? oil leaks due to a bad seal inside the turbo?
-was it ever rebuilt?


if youre gonna use that turbo id find a rebuild kit and get it rebuilt but there are other better ways as id3379 said. but for a $400 kit i wouldnt expect really good parts. you could spend 1-2k and have a great DIY kit.

yes, the kits that have those cheap manifolds that crack super easily, ebay kits and kits off craigs list is what i was specifically refereeing to. but like you said for the good kits you'll spend around $1000-$3k all on how you do your set up
