Turbo and Supercharger discussion

#118459 d16z6 is the engine.

1. I'm planning to start throwing my turbo setup on my car tomorrow, where exactly are all the oil pan screws and how many are there, and is there anything funky with getting to them.

2. Do I need to tap my oil pan is a specific place, I mean I know I have to tap it kinda near the top about an inch down or so? also do I have to tap it in a certain place so the vacuum of the crank/pistons don't push the oil back up the line/make it difficult for it to drain or where did you tap it (pics would be fantastic)

3. Where exactly is the oil pressure sensor located, that's where I planned to have my oil feed line come from. (again, pics would be fantastic).

4. Any other advice you would give me

5. Sorry for all the questions, couldn't really find any straight forward to the point posts, and I'm slightly nervous about this.

Thank you very much

#118471 1) Bottom of the engine, All facing up threading into the block's bottom side. They cant be all taken off with the transmission support brackets in place. They will need to come off to take it out.

2) No idea, Check out Turbod16.com, Those dudes are really cool. Learned so much about Turbos and Boosting in General. I was hooked on that site before I decided to just Shoot Nitrous and not boost my z6.

3) Back of the Block, Under the intake manifold. Getting the clip off is kinda tricky and hard to un hook with out breaking the clip.

4) Dont plan for anything more then 240-250hp(crank) on Stock Rods. any more and they WILL break. For Stock engines I recommend the T25 as they spool quick, and can make good power, Also can be somewhat easily picked up out of the Junkyard. A good junkyard turbo kit will cost 100-300 bucks.

Tuning is Important, Dont skimp out on Tuning or your car WILL Blow up. Local dude does an awesome street tune for $150USD.

Also DONT buy eBay Turbos or Wastegates. Intercoolers, Charge line, Boost Controllers, etc are mostly decent and can be picked up from them though.
eBay turbo Manifolds almost always crack. However if you have one profesionally rewelded and braced they work pretty good and even having that done is cheaper then a "good" manifold

5)Its totally understandable to be nervous about this. Your going to do something that has killed many engines. If you do it right you can make awesome power for cheap.

Turbod16.com and homemadeturbo.com are both awesome resources. Good Luck
