Right guys update on the build, as you saw in my last post it ended with the engine out but the bay was not yet stripped.. So over the course of a few days just taking my time i stripped all the bay down and started some preps for painting..

So the bay was now all stripped down but as you can see covered in many years of dirt and grease so me and a friend gave it a good cleaning.

I dont know if you guys get fairy washing up liquid over there lol but its just what you use to clean dishes with, Pots and Pans and stuff :P Worked a treat as you shall see..

By the time we had it all clean it was dark so we packed up tools and stuff and got a good nights sleep!

More to come soon :woot: Watch this space..

Works wonders! But when you think about it really its quite logical.. Its designed to remove grease and grime from pots and pans sooo.. why wouldn't it work on an engine bay :P

Thanks bro, And if im honest its a custom orange so i have no idea of the name if any, I went to my local paint supply shop and looked through all the color charts and that orange is what stood out the most, as i wanted something none metallic and deep.

#272269 Okay guys its time for another update i think :)

My post last time ended with the bay all stripped and cleaned up ready for prep work for the painting, Yep you guessed right! Its prep time :P

As always look forward to feedback!

At first i was going to just prime and paint the bay but i decided to smooth it off a little but keep it looking OEM so i smoothed off all the spot welds around the bay to give it a bit of a flush look...

After many many hours of sanding it was finally all flushed off, I have alot more pictures of all the parts i smoothed but you's get the idea :P

Image

I couldn't wait to see the results once primed so i grabbed a spray can of high build primer from the garage and done one strut top, Was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

I had planned to finish off the rest of the bay the day after but the weather had other plans for a few days so the build was put on hold.. Sunshine once more i cracked on with the bay to get it all up in primer and this is how it all turned out in the end :)

And there we have it.. One primed bay ready for wetsanding and then paint.. This is pretty much the stage the car is at' the moment, Should have it in paint next week though, Fingers crossed.

Don't worry though the updates don't stop here, ive been stripping the B16 down in the garage during the bad weather so theres plenty more updates to come...

Just wanna say thanks for reading so far and i really appreciate all the nice feedback :woot:

#272301 build is coming along really nice. nice to see you putting some time and effort into ur eg. over here its generally stick an exhaust and lower it, tint the windows maybey a big ass bumper and head of down macdonalds . my build is exactly the same as ures but had issues with painting my bay. all the engine was rebuilt so was just ready to paint and me and my partner had a big argument so i needed the car back together so i just chucked the engine back in to get it on the road but then we made up so im carrying on as normal now. its taken me 2 1/2 years to build so far but am considering takin the engine back out to paint :x hopefully i will have my car back by 2012  she did make it up to me and went and baught me the first eg i baught so i have a 5 year build time on that :thumb: got big plans
