- Mon Apr 13, 2009 4:12 pm #110323 I bought a glass sunroof to swap with my metal one that is now on the car. I got the roof panel with the sunroof. I will travel a couple of miles away from the city to enjoy the "upgrading" of my car, so I need to know if the roof panel, the upholstery that now is on my car will fit the new glass sunroof. I ask this because I should think of a way to transport the panel if the glass sunroof won't fit with the old one.

I hope you get what I am talking about.

I really hope for some good answers, our of experience. In exchange I will make a DIY of all the swapping and sh*t.

However, if I don't get any answers I am not going to have any other option but to bring this huge fragile part with me and see if they fit. Then we will have an answer to this ultimate question.

- Wed Apr 22, 2009 1:17 am #112301 Do you mean that you got a glass sunroof to swap it for your metal one? If so, I don't see why not. If a shop is doing this they can easily trim the excess of your current headliner. besides if this wont fit you can put it yourself, is not that hard.

I have a glass sunroof to swap with my current METAL sunroof. With the GLASS sunroof the GUY I bought it from gave me the headliner for free.

Now my question is if the headliner of the metal sunroof, and the headliner of the glass sunroof are the same - if they are the same, It won't be necessary to bring the "new" headliner with me. But if they have differences, and the "metal headliner" can't fit with the glass sunroof, then I have to bring the other panel with me That is all... I hope now somebody can get what I am talking about

- Wed Apr 22, 2009 7:38 am #112368 Never heard of it? Really? Well... it is metal, non-transperent painted on the outside in the color of the car. That is all... I hate the current one so I paid 40$ for the glass one and now It is about to be mounted

P.S.: I am swapping them myself, no shop included... where is the fun with a shop messing with my car?

never heard of metal sunroof, can we get pics?

European EG/EJ's never got the Glass sunroofs we had in America.

I remember someone wanting dimensions on glass sunroofs, Pretty sure it was stefan, He had a Metal sunroof and wanted a glass one. We got him some measurements and I believe the glass and metal sunroofs where the same size. I searched for a thread to link to but I cant find it. It was a good while back sometime late last year.

Therefore you shouldn't need to replace the headliner, That is unless you damage your current one taking it out.

Looks like our Glass roofs, Except body color.

- Stefans New Build Thread. Hes sold the Car I believe, Atleast he was trying last i heard to get something "RHD/RWD" thats "Not Honda" Probably a RHD 240 or something.

I though about painting my Hood, Roof and Trunklid Black a while back, I have scene it come out good. Played with the thought of painting my Glass sunroof to, Never ended up doing it as I attracted Police attention easily enough with 1 solid color.

- Wed Apr 22, 2009 8:13 am #112376 The glass sunroof fits in the metal sunroofs place like a glove. But I was thinking... the metal sunroof doesn't have the sliding thingy that the glass one has... suh shader or whatever it is called. That is why I thing the headliners might be different.

- Wed Apr 22, 2009 8:26 am #112377 Thats a really good question and point. The headliners might be different. Then agian the Slider Peice might be part of the sunroof housing.

If the slider part fits into the Sunroof hardware then most likely the headliners are the same. However I am not 100% on this.

I will let our European Users who swapped to Glass Sunroofs fill in. Stefan would be a good man to hit up, However he doesn't visit the forum that often anymore. He left his email in the thread I linked to a while back asking for help selling his coupe. Try hitting him up for answers?

Also, there will be some significant differences in some details if I fit my new headliner. So, after a few days I will post a complete DIY of swapping a metal with glass sunroof with complete instructions.

- Sun Apr 26, 2009 7:26 pm #113351 Well...done it... half of the job at least. So, for everybody to know - the headliners are different, BIG TIME! The hole for the metal sunroof is way smaller, and the dome light is in a different place also! I didn't bring the headliner with me, so now I am going to take apart my car... again.

But it is a real pleasure, the glass sunroof - very sleek and cosy.
I took pictures of the process, which is mainly taking the interior panels off. Then the sunroof iself holds on 6 screws.

Oh, yeah, and the glass sunroof itself is different from the metal one!
