did UK TV's ever have coin slots on them?

I'm sure the locals will come up with a catchy description for their forum...

My mum used to live on a really really shitty estate and yet she has never seen one, still can't believe those things exist, i'm sure a lot of people can afford a tv off ebay nowa days. depending on how much tv u watch, if you think about it, if somebody watched £1 worth of tv nearly everyday that would work out to be approx. £300+ :shock: the tv license doesn't even cost that much, you could have a tv and the license and some spare change for pop corn.Damn governments and councils all have a way to get money from people cheeky gits :x like damn parking fines :x :x :x :x

i used to have one when i was little and lived in newport
my nan and grandad had one for a while
my best mate luke had one

it wasnt a "coin slot" in the tv tho.. ours was like a little box behind the tele that had a lcd on it to say howmuch money you put in it

and i think lukes one was one that was outside, so you would just stick a quid in everytime you wanted to watch the tele

i think a pound lasted most of the day :)

used to do the same with the gas and electric

but you have to buy tokens and put them in the meter.

the one weve got now doesnt have tokens, it has like a key type thing, kinda like a USB stick.

pay for your gas/ electric at the garage, then plug it in to the slot thing at home :)

same with the electric and tele

every on quart i think?
and i think thats like.... every 3 months?

i know some people who blag it tho. specially in the ghetto areas.
there is this dude who managed to rig his coin thing so the money just fell out everytime :)

pretty sure he gripped all his gas tickets on the sly aswell

naughty :hehe:
