#33921 My single cam "VTEC" motor would beat the 99-00 Si's all the time. Doesnt mean the B16a is garbage. The B16a is a great motor. Its alot better than the SOHC VTEC motors in so many ways. So what if it doesnt have more torque. None of honda's motors have much of that anyways.

#56502 I was a fan for the B16 for a while and when I got the chance to finally have one, something went awgry and the engine seized, my friend gave me the choice to go LS/VTEC and I said well why not since I already have all that is needed. that's the only reason I went with an LS/V Aside form that I know that you can't rev them like the B16 but I'm not used to rev to 9,000 RPM; 7,00RPM0 is fine for me right now. untill i rebuild.

I agree. I have seen reliability issues with LSV mainly from people who are clueless but even from people that know whats up.

#83299 If you do the lsv right you won't have any problems.

Stock ls rods on stock rod bolts handle up to 210, give or take whp
With arp rod bolts your good till like 250, anything more than that you'll need rods.

You can rev your lsv to what ever your head can handle,
If you don't have a vtec oil pump and water pump you shouldn't even be driving your lsv.

If you have a b16 head on your ls block you can rev 8500 rpms all day. Nothings gonna happen to your block.

Yeah that would be the smart think to do, BUT, ls vtecs came from Honda.
From a del sol to be exact, the motor is a B20TC 250hp stock from honda.
That's why when you build an ls vtec right, it will last you for ever, and I mean for ever.

LowTEC-Derbo wrote:LS.VTEC is not a stock upgrade so it can vary on how well it is in power/reliability.

With this...

Ls/v originated from the b20tc.
The ls/v can be as reliable as the b16 and then sum.

Ls,b20/v FTW!

#181382 If u build it right go lsvtec. Shotpeen the rods get arp rod bolts and if u have the money get some pistons, itr or b16a because the power differance will be worth it.
But if u don't have the money to build it reliable then go b16

It's VTEC and garbage based on what?

its a 1.6 v-tech alot of ppl swap em in b16 bcause its cheap but theres no power at all 2 b16 motors i seen b16 get smoke by single cam v tech

hahah its funny you say that cause my d16z6 with i/h/e has now smoked 2 b16a and a b18b :thumb:

agree x2 i love my turbo b16, granted its turbo and this is the na section, but in a b16's defense the b16b is a NA power house of a 1.6! ive seen numbers ranging in the 180 to 200hp stock! i cant see many na d16's off STOCK parts run with that....
