- Tue Mar 02, 2010 5:12 pm #178699 i ealized you got the d15b head when i read back thru it... a friend of mine put a z6 cam in a y8 head and it seemed to pull really hard... the y8 head is supposed to yeild more compression but idk... the head you have is a great start tho :thumb:

i sold my z6 head a long time ago and still have the block and various parts
im going to be reusing the b7 pistons from a motor that had like 130k and putting new rings in and it should be good
kinda risky but as its my fisrt motor build im not expecting alot so i realy dont care if it blows in like 30k

im trying to keep it on a pretty tight budget so far i havnt spent anything just traded some older parts and all i need is rings and bearings and it should be good to go

- Tue Mar 02, 2010 5:22 pm #178704 if you hone it well with a ''dingleberry hone'' and double check all your bearing clearences with plasti-gauge you should be just fine... hope all works out well for you tho... it shouldnt be a bad running setup at all :thumb: hope to hear how it runs when you get it together... im about to put a sohc zc with a z6 head on it into my dd... i miss the gas mileage my old sohc used to get lol

im waiting on a job so all my builds are still just thoughts haha

- Tue Mar 02, 2010 5:30 pm #178706 ive traded alot to accumulate all the b series stuff ive gotten... if you can keep it lower budget you really dont have much to loose... some of those builds can be the best... and if your compression gets up there too much you wont be able to get your fuel at the gas pump... and that gets pricey and can suck lol but it sounds like your on track for a good build man

yeah i have gotten an adjustable cam gear z6 timing belt and water pump got two free oil pans and a free z6 block thats perfectly good uper controll arms with adjustable camber all for my shitty halo headlights and my decent coilovers just have to get random gaskets and my bearings and rings and i will be on my way to the build all that is under like 400 so im stoked

- Tue Mar 02, 2010 9:49 pm #178770 yea i chose to get the b7 pistons cause for a DD the high 11CR is good enough ahaha. that and d15b7 motors are insanly easy to get ahold of. i got my pistons with rods and rings for 20$ shipped on ebay.

and damn thats crazy about the cam being more aggresive! coool little fast to know
