#347008 I'm getting so sick of the plastic anchors with plastic screws that are used on the fender linings, splash guards, sideskirts, etc. I haven't even messed with them that much; but over half are broken already and some had to be broke because they wouldn't come out.

Has anybody replaced these with metal hardware?

Just curious if there's anything in particular I should look for at the hardware store. I was going to get some different sized bolts and just hope some of them will bolt into the anchor holes fairly securely without tapping, but realistically I imagine tapping will be necessary; or more durable anchors but I'd rather just avoid that path if I can.

Discussion welcome.

#347036 The metal in basically every area is too thin to tap threads. Your best bet if you really want to use bolts would be to use nutserts. Then you can use a bolt.

#347056 If you do it properly and neatly, gypsum screws and bottle caps :thumb:
Its whats holding my Bumper lip in place and so far it holds up pretty well

just punch a small hole in the bottle cap and run the gypsum screw up :thumb:

Nice, nutserts. I think that was the type of thing I was looking for.
I'll give that a try.

Isn't that basically the same thing as a nut and bolt setup? I wouldn't be able to get a bottle cap behind the mounting point since it's just a hole, like how the sideskirts are mounted.
