#49649 i have just installed a grounding kit and voltage stabilizer in my eg. at the same time, installed an oil filter sandwich adapter for the oil gauges replacing the old "jury rigged" setup i noticed that my oil pressure gauge is giving a higher reading than normal. e.g. before, it used to be 80 psi for the first start of the day and gradually eases down. as it reaches 80 deg. centegrade oil temp, the reading is at 10 psi at idle.

now, at first start it shows 100 psi and stays at around 30 psi at 80 deg. centigrade at idle. could this be a result of better grounding in that i get better performance out of my oil pump or maybe my gauge is defective?

if its a real reading, won't this amount of pressure blow my oil lines eventually?

thanks

#51022 how was the old "setup" like?

How is the oil sandwich adapter grounded? I myself am having issues with a proper ground on the oil sandwich adapter. I need to properly ground the temp sensor with a wire to get better signal. Downfalls of temperature gauges.. :(

#51026 the old setup was made up of 2 brass cross fittings attached in tandem. this "contraption" was attached to the original port for the factory low oil pressure sensor above the oil filter. at the sides of the first cross fittings were the original low press sensor and on the other was the temp sensor. on the end of the second cross was the oil pressure sender.

obviously, this was very long and with the heavy sender at the far end, some "bending" force applies. true enough, oil was leaking albeit in teeny amounts. nonetheless, still an ugly sight.

my grandfather of an electrician says that the adaptor itself is already grounded to the engine. my erroneous temp reading was found to be due to the wire not soldered on to the terminal but just clamped on.

my temp reading just gets higher than before because it is now closer to the engine than before where it was "floating" above the oil filter with lots of space between it and the engine. part of the reading is taken from the heat of the engine too. this discrepancy i can live with in that i know at least that my oil ain't leaking no more.
