General engine questions/issues that aren't specific to the other categories

#315323 ok. i have aquired a disassembled b16a head and block. the guy who had it before me was setting his car up for autocross. but fell short apparently so i traded him out of his stuff. most of the parts are there some nib. i do need to pick up a set of cams and possibly some other odds and ends. this opens up the oppurtunity to do a total build. my question to all of you honda gurus is about the parts he bought for the build. the nib parts are as follows ferrea SS valves, new oem valve seals, nib topline .040 over piston set(only markings on them are pr3 on one side k on the other, reconditioned oem rods, melling .040 over block sleves. ive never done a total rebuild so, any help would be appreciated. also i did notice a little rust on the valve springs. can that be taken off and used or would i be better off using aftermarket stuff anyway due to im going with hotter cams. thanks in advance guys!!!
