Magnetic drain plug?

- Sat Oct 23, 2010 9:53 pm #219604 Threads are the same between the oil sump and gearbox drain, but the gearbox plug with have the shorter magnet and the oil sump will have the longer magnet. Not sure why they advertise it as such, but that's what the manufacturers say you should do.

Magnes are magnets. There is no name brand magnet. There are different types of magnets, however. Skunk2, and MFactory use rare-earth magnets. Not sure if the off brand companies do. But with the off brand companies, you have to be careful that the magnet doesn't fall out. Could potentially ruin your day...
