#286505 i have a 97 civic and the heater is blowing cold :thumbdown: .... any suggestions on how i can fix it i knw it could possibly be a thermostat or water pump problem but is there any way to find out which one it could be and also is there a D.I.Y post on either of those

plz help!!!!! :shock:

#286506 couple of things... low coolant, your outside air door is stuck open, or your hearter core is clogged. just some things to look at.

#286507 Already filled the coolant it was pretty low and then let it run but its still cold.....

#286647 Whats the gauge doing? Do u hear the door switching when u move from hot to.cold? Flsuh ur heater core.

#286723 EG's do not "switch a door" when you move the heat lever from cold to hot.
They move an in line water value on the engine side of the firewall.
If that is stuck closed or the heater core is plugged or restricted with crud, your heater will not blow hot.

I have a Toyota that has a "door", and when I move the heat lever the temperature change is immediate between hot and cold.

My Civic takes time to change temperature because you have to wait for the temp of the heater core to change when the coolant is shut off or reduced. These systems are more prone to clogging since there is no flow for long periods of time like during summer.

#286727 Yea if your gauge isnt reaching normal operating temp my bet is thermostat. If it is reading normal, the cable between your climate control and your heater core could be busted.

it could be your thermostat stuck open. my sedan was like that.
