B18B is good for turbo. VTEC is not ideal for turbo, but it wont kill you especially if you're just doing a modest street build. In that case just go with whatever has the strongest bottom end.
Stock compression is okay for turbo IF you get it dyno tuned by someone who really knows what they're doing. Use high octane.
In the US there were no carb Civics starting in the late eighties. All our EGs are MPFI. The EF Si was MPFI, and all other EFs were DPFI which stands for dual-point. I haven't seen a single injector Honda. Toyota was doing that. I wouldn't even call that an improvement over carburetion. Wet manifolds suck.
