#84659 As some of you may know, I mentioned that my head gasket had been leaking and that I was in the middle of replacing it. That was like 2weeks ago but I've been busy. Anyway, here's where I'm at with replacing the head gasket.

I've aligned it to top dead centre, with the "Up" mark on the Cam at the top. I've used a little bit of white paint to mark the belt and the Cam itself so I know exactly where it's going back. Just haven't taken it off yet.

Removed everything else necessary, including cylinder head bolts and exhaust manifold bolts etc except for the intake manifold. With the situation/environment I'm working in, it'll be better to leave the intake manifold attached to the head and lift it off with it then unbolt it after.

As I've never done this before, my problem is I'm scared to fuck with the fuel hoses. You can see which hoses I've pulled off so far (pics at the top), and I've pulled off several electrical connectors, but when I tried unbolting one of the fuel hoses (marked in red, look at picture below), fuel started to leak out from the bolt as I was loosening it, so I quickly re-tightened.

I need to get this done asap cause I need the car drivable by Monday, Tuesday the latest. So I need that head off, replace gaskets and whatever else necessary, possibly get the head skimmed too if it's warped.

So what do I do? Is this normal? Will I have any other trouble with the other hoses? Am to expect fuel gushing everywhere? As I say, this is my first time doing it, I just need to expect the unexpected.

Thanks!

#84666 That fuel leak is nothing to worry bout bro.
What happened there was the last beat of fuel pressure that was left after you turned off the car.
Its alays good to open the gas cap b4 unhooking any fuel line.
But you're good to go bro. Just a bit of fuel is gonna leak but nothing to worry bout. Its just going to spray out once and leak for like a second. And you don't have to worry bout any fuel getting on anythingh electrical. By the time you put everything back the fuel its going to be already evaporated.

So keep on gunning you're on the right track.

#84783 Pull the EFI fuse, start the car and it will stall after a second. This will use up the remaining fuel in the lines. Then remove your fuel cap. Put some rags around the fuel filter and loosen the little top bolt. If you're going to disconnect the fuel line at the fuel rail, put some rags around that area too. Not a bad idea to have a fire extinguisher ready.

#105893 disconect the fuel pump relay and start the car that will drop the pressure in the fuel rail so you can take of the hose then but have a rag around it so you wouldnt have to clean it up later and if you want you can drain off the fuel from the fuel filter and work away lad your sorted :woot:
