#172646 I recently purchased a 1993 EG SI. The people that owned it before me left the engine bone stock, coil overs and 5zigen 17s" Paint job is bad and right now Im making sure the car runs right. So far so good. I joined this forum to learn alot of the helpful tips that are posted and meet other folks that can point me in the right direction when I begin my building process.

#172724 Thank you guys for stopping by. The paint is my issue right now. front bumper is crappy looks like the guys before me had macco paint job but didnt prep the body. Im thinking of prepping the body myself and sending it to macco and tipping the dude spraying my car to do an extra coat.

The engine has about 150xxx on it. Im reluctant to build this engine with so many miles on it. Any of you guys built a SOHC motor with 150xxx and not have a problem at all?

#172729 i got a 92 dx hatch with 142000 + miles i just did a mini me swap with a d16z6 head with 160000 + miles on it it runs great . no knocks doesnt smoke and anything unless you plan on boosting the engine you should be fine to just do basic uprades intake exhaust and tune up . anything else i would plan on a rebuild as i am here next month before i boost mine

#172740 Thanks for your advice, Im thinking about boosting with stock internals hoping to reach 200hp. I have to make sure the internals are in good condition before i move forward. From the research I found on this site, Many people are reaching a lil over 200hp with stock internals and is realistic. Once my body is fixed i think I will begin to build the kit.

Looking forward to checking out your build.

#172748 I, personally would NOT turbo a stock d. Whether it is off a fresh rebuild or not. A d series just isn't made to withstand power like that. A nice built d maybe, but not stock. If you wanna boost it, you might wanna look into a swap or to build the d in your car.

Thats what I was thinking as well. Simple set up and boots about 7psi andtune it. Build the internals later and then boost higher with a better tune.

thats the way to do it
unless you have a rediculous budget and dont need to drive it for like six months but most of us just build as we go :thumb:
also i would highly recomend doing a compression test before boost
if its low then i would do a mini rebuild if u got the time i.e. rings and bearing basically
and if its your dd and do have much time get a jdm d15b and boost that
:woot:
glad to hear your going to keep in the SOHC family :woot: :woot:

#172931 yea, its going to be my DD , I plan on compression testing my engine this weekend. Ive decided to stay SOHC, kinda to keep it true to the year and style. I would love to swap one day, but with boost i think i would be pretty happy with the WHP i would get from just 7psi.... until i get bored and wanting to boost higher.
