#99669 Hellooo everyone! i'm Wabbla
of course it's not my real name
but sometimes i wish it was! :)

Anyway! i have the idea of purchasing an EG
simply because it's a hell of a car and i love it
since i loved the EK, then saw some egs

sooo got few questions
if i had to buy an used eg
1.what shoud i check before take it home?
2.how many kilometers should it have to be a good deal without spending billions on it?
3. what are the first and usual customizations to get in order to increase a little speed and make it more reliable? (please consider that i'm kinda short on money, and i'm not even a proper mechanic  )

thank youu and sorry for bein so long
:woot:

#99675 Welcome to the wonderful world of EG civics.

you pretty much HAVE to buy used as that body style is discontinued :P

answer's to questions:

1) Rust. Look for it in shock towers and door jams. If you can, jack up the four corners and check if the wheel bearings are ok and give the wheels a spin to see if the brakes drag.

2) Hard to say. I've got 250,000 Km's on mine (not original motor) and my step-bro has 350,000 on his and has only had to replace the head gasket because he had an air pocket in the system and it overheated. Generally you have to be a better judge of ppl than cars when buying used.

3) Short-ram or cold-air intake, header, exhaust. Those are going to be your best performance mods for the price. Then it's wheels/tires for the exterior look you're after. From there I go straight into the driver creature comforts. If it doesn't have a tach, buy one. Get a short throw shifter. A nice head unit and door speakers is generally enough sound for me, I'd rather listen to the motor anyways. Of course there is always the JDM goodness you can find in amber corners, lips, gauges, seats, stearing wheels, the list goes on and on. Best year to get would have to be 92 because you are wired for Vtec right up to the passenger shock tower so if you are thinking swap or mini-me down the road it's less wiring. The DX is the nice all around model, the SI is loaded and the CX is the lightest/slowest.

Hope this helps, but I'm sure it'll create more questions ;-)
