#51345 Im looking at a 93 civic si to buy and it has an h22a swap in it. Are the h22a engines a good solid versatile engine. I am fairly new to the honda game so any help would be great. thanks everyone.

#51349 Be sure to check out (if you haven't already) the condition of the body. If you have a realiable mechanic to take it to they could check out the condition of the brakes and brake pads, check what kind of condition the battery is in.

The overall problem with swapped motors is that you don't know how well it was swapped or how much care was put into it. Has it been tuned? Is the motor itself in good condition? Are the chassis modifications done well? Good, solid connections?

I would be very hesitant to ever buy someone else's swap. It's cheaper and faster, but if you do it yourself you know how good it is and you can put as much or as little time and money into it as you want. You don't know how hard it was driven or how much mileage the engine had on it. You could have a mechanic do a compression test and a leak-down test before you buy it.

#51351 Well the guy im buying it from has the receipt for the swap and he also has the receipt for all of the professional installation. I mean it seems like a great deal I spent a solid hour going over as much as I could. But as for the h22a itself... what would you compare that to?

#51354 the h22a has been referred to as the "Honda Big block". They are not to much heavier then any Bswap, However the weight of the engine is more forward over your axles to fit under your hood. This will effect handling to a degree.

They are quite Quick, Especially in an EG Shell. I thought about doing the swap a while back. However have decided on other plans. I would say with a stock h22a, Your car can pull on quite a few others on the road. So If your into Drag Racing(or want to be shortly after getting the car) This would be a good setup.

#51366 Good luck man.

Sometimes you just have to jump with both feet and hope you land safely. I took a risk buying my second EG (the coupe) but it's been great fixing it up and improving it and I wouldn't change my decision if I could :thumb:

#51709 i almost did that swap but there had to be a small degree of "fab" work involved with it. so i would look into that if i were you, and make sure it isn't a total chop job

I already looked far into it I spoke with the guy who did the swap and I have all the papers and receipts and the title is clean.

H22 is the K20R competitor
