Appearance, Paint & Body Work

#139702 So I went out into the parking lot after work the other day and noticed this:

Thankfully (maybe not :? ) there aren't any huge paint marks or scuffs from the offending vehicle, and of course no one left contact information.

I can access the dent from behind the wheelwell, but I wasn't sure what my best course of action is and figured I'd come to the experts :D.

Should I get a block of wood about the size of the dent and try tapping it with a hammer? Is there a chance the paint will crack when I pop it, and if so how can I alleviate or prevent further cracking?

Thanks, everyone :thumb:

#139717 ok well before i got in the military i did autobody for 8 years so in MY OPINION from the looks of that dent at the very top its guna be a crease , and thhat fender is flimsy as in if you dont unbend that in the same "pressure" point areas that made it it could be more noticable . also to me trying to fix it makes it worse some times . i know it seems like it could just "pop" and it may its hard to really tell from over the computer you obv dont want to have to paint a fender or replace it but it could be your best bet . but the block of wood may work, or the back of a screwdriver or pry bar the "grip" end with a towel on it you could put a little reverse pressure on it . that sucks it happend in sorry bro you can pm and i will give you more in depth if you'd like .

#140619 Hey King,

Thanks for all the input man, I appreciate it. I figured I may have had some luck with metal memory if I tried applying even pressure to the center of the dent, or even tapping like previously mentioned. But I definitely don't want to replace/repaint the fender due to a big crease or cracked paint.

I guess it'll just get added to the rest of the body imperfections - driver door held together with Bondo, Honda rust on both rear fenderwells, a roof that looks like someone learned how to tap-dance on it, etc.

But she drives and gets me where I need to go :)

#140670 i do body work also....but fenders are a dime a dozen just get another one it would cost less to replace than it would to repair... thats what the automotive industry is going toward these days
