#186437 its in the distributor on 92 to 00 hondas.... maybe 88to91 hondas but idk as much about them.... and that equals replacing the distributor.... no other way around it... 96+ has a crank angle sensor but throws a different more specific code on obd2...

#186489 well i got rid of the code but still no start.
put the new dizzy on and it cranks and comes sooo close to catching but cant.

when i turn the dizzy toward the firewall it gets further away and when i move it towards the rad it come closer to starting but then i cant move it anymore.

so i set it to TDC and tried again. still the same thing.
is getting spark fuel and air? and no codes?
any ideas?

#186500 did u put the dizzy in backwards like 180* out??

does the motor have compression
motors need 3 things to start
*fuel
*spark
*compression

#186512 Not to sound nit picky, but there's 4 things... Fuel, AIR, compression, and spark. Forgot the air part...

But yeah. Check the compression, change the fuel filter, listen for the fuel pump whirring away when you turn the key into the ON position, change the spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, spark plug wires, maybe find some used but known good stock injectors for cheap or something.

The distributor can't go in backwards unless you modify the cam or the disributor in a very extensive mannor.

To check for spark, have someone crank the engine while you pull each spark plug wire out one at a time. Don't pull them out all the way, but only enough to where the spark will arc to the spark plug tube.

#186557 How and why would you set a distributor to TDC?

Where did the distributor come from? If it's used, test the coil and ignitor with a multimeter.

Tell us how you know you're getting fuel and spark.

#186564 no no i set tdc on the engine.
as i said before, i am getting fuel and spark so the dizzy is good.

pump comes on and theres fuel at the fuel rail.
i tested spark with one of those things you plug into the spark plug wire.

im thinking i need to move the timing belt a tooth.
because when i moved the dizzy it almost started but i could move it anymore.

.

incorrect sir, if you have a dist with the bushings/bearings wore in it they can be put in 180, it gives the shaft jut enough play that it will go.... i know because i have done it and seen it done, its happend to me 2 times... both distributors had about 250 to 300 thousand miles on them, one was in an ls and the other in a d15b7.... but if you do this it will spit thru the exhaust and throw a cel light after 2 times of crannking...

#186566 im pretty sure i tried the dizzy and it would only go in one way.
ill try again.

i did have fault code 8. but when i replaced the dizzy it went away.
and still no start

#186574 thats kinda strange man... normally when i have had that prob, a dist. swap cured it :eh: :???:

#186577 i know, it blew my mind too.
my next guess is to jump a tooth on the timing belt
seeing is how when i turn the dizzy it gets closer to starting, until i max out the turn on the bolts and cant go anymore.
so maybe if i set it foward a tooth it will come closer to starting.

i unno? what alse is there to do?
