I took my car to a shop to see why my VTEC isn't popping and they told me the it could be my speedo wire sense speedo doesn't work... could this be true?

mine isnt kicking in either but its giving me CEL code 17 (VSS). I read somewhere that if the VSS is not working properly, vtec wont kick in. Im not 100% sure but it cold be the VSS. somebody correct me if im wrong :?

whoa, hold on. I dont see why you need to take out your dash.

The Speed Sensor(VSS) is located toward the rear of your transmission. If its a VSS issue causing vtec to not hit it would be here. not under your dash.

in order for VTEC to engauge quite a few conditions have to be met. One of them is a VSS signal. If the ecu doesn't know how fast its going it wont crack vtec. Just like it wont crack vtec if it doesn't know oil pressure.
