Im not sure if this is also the same for SOHC, probably is but here are the steps to B series.

What you will need,

1 new oil pan gasket + some silicone (ultra black,blue,gray whatever)

2. Gorilla snot (or some kind of contact cement to glue the new gasket)

3. size 17mm, and size 10mm & 12mm for the headers. 1/4 inch wratchet, use 1/4 inch if you have becuase 3/8 or 1/2 you can get carried away and over tighten.

Lets start

First thing obviously let your oil drain..

1. Take off your headers, might want to spray them with some PB blaster or liquid wrench wd40 etc.. whatevers there. (don't forget to unclip the o2 sensor)

2. To the left there is a cover, the ''Flywheel cover'' that has a mount holding it, with the 17mm remove the bolt thats covering the plate, and remove the rest of the 10mm bolts. (this plate is in the way of 3 or 4 bolts)

3. Once your completly free of the flywheel plate and headers, start loosening the 10mm bolts holding the oil pan, make sure to get them all. oil pans can bend and then your kinda screwd. (it adds more work, make sure to remove em all)

4. One your got all the bolts/nuts off carefully pull the pan straight down. it should just come down.

5. If available throw it in the parts washer, if not the sink will do just fine.. (dont be amazed if you find metal shavings, and other kinds of junk. at the way bottom of the pan you will have dirt black honey like oil chillin there wash it all up nicely)

6. This is optional, i would doit becuase your already this far, take off the oil pick up. It's 2 bolts and 2 nuts holding it, clean off the screen really nice and blow it our with air to make sure theres no water in there (same for the pan)

7. Bolt the oil pick up back on, i belive its 30 footlbs? but you can also just get them on there very nice n snug. iether one will work,

8. Put a small layer of the gorilla snot (gasket adhesive) on the pan, and on the gasket. Wait for it to dry for just about 2 mins so it will stick nicely when makes contact. (make sure to flip flop gasket to see which way it goes)

9. After you'v nicely stuck the gasket on the pan one small line of silicone and even it out with your fingers.

10. Get someone to hold the pan in place while you screw the bolts/nuts in. the torque is 8 pounds, but you can also again just snug these in **DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN**!

11. After you got the oil pan back on, bolt in the flywheel cover, and throw the headers back on and your done! (put some anti seaze on the header nuts)

oh and whatever you do, don't be cheap like me and only use silicone to try and seal, it really wont work out (lesson learned) re did it 3 times. got so good at it i can do this job all in about 30 mins now haha, book says it takes 1.8 hours

o by the way oil pan gaskets are a dry gasket you are not supposed to use and silicone. and the torque spec is 108 inch pounds/ 9 ft. pounds

ALL DATA. told me 8 pounds, im sure you'v herd of all data?

i guess you know more then a ASE master tech thats owned a shop longer then you'v lived.

(if u think ur not supposed to silicone the gasket) A SMALL little layer.

regardless of how the ''proper'' way is, he told me to add a small layer of silicone, he is by far the most ''know it all person'' iv ever met, ask him anything he has a answer to. you should see all this certificates haha

so regardless of what you read, i would always trust a guy thats owned a shop for 40 years, and has probably done about 50,000 oil pans in his life.

i use alldata at school. all my teachers are ase master techs from all different brands of cars so i get yelled at alot for thing i say or do and then learn the right way im use to it now i have access to a honda special site called in.honda.com its for only techs and stuff so i get all my info from there its has everything you need to know about any honda

regardless, silicone cant hurt at all if done the right way.. all it will do is add a bit more stick..

maybe at the edges of the 4 corners but thats bout it i see some people that use huge globs of it and it is terrible

i didnt say throw a huge dab..

really isnt lol, if u can't remove a oil pan then u dont deserve a car......


i was bored so i did the write up. the only ''suprise'' i ran into was the flywheel cover... had no idea that would of had to come off..

but since you guys insist ill get pics

then why did you make a write up? I'm not saying its a bad write up but if someone doesn't know how to do this just reading doesn't help. they will go somewhere else for the resolution to their problem

it makes more sense and firsttimers can follow allow easier with a proper write up with pics is all he is saying
