just upgrade to a MSD
that still doesn't answer his question, and depending on which MSD system you're talking about its not much of an upgrade... especially if it performs worse than stock.
His question was answered a couple of times already.
How would an MSD ignition perform worse than stock? Everyone knows how shitty the coils are on our motors. Just curious what you have to back this up with? One instance? Or actual consistant failures?
Actually quite a bit.
I attempted to use a blaster ss coil (external coil conversion) on my Integra w/a mild b20v. As I said, I attempted: it failed. Started to break up above 7000 rpm. Converted my distributor back to internal coil (with the same distributor and all its internals) and it held power til redline and never had a hiccup.
That's my only personal experience. I've personally cars on the dyno w/the MSD billet distributor fail on numerous cars, even after MSD "changed the design". The seal on the shaft goes bad, oil leaks into the distributor and fails.
Couple other instances where similar to mine where the blaster ss coil acted the same way...
MSD cap, sure why not. I dont see how that could be a problem, but beyond that I personally choose to stick to OEM or other alternatives (M&W w/crane coil being the main one).
