#261164 Hi guys,

1. Does a b20b spec 1999/2000 crank differs from others crank in its group?

2. I'm going for a b18c gsr engine with 85mm piston using b20 crank. can I use the same conrod in my b18, or should I go for aftermarket conrod ie: carrillo / BC...? what spec is the best?

#261170 All B20 cranks are the same. They are the same as the LS B18b cranks.

If you are using a B20 crank, you will have to use B20 rods. The lengths are different for each rod between the gsr and B20.

B18 rods is 87mm, b20 rods 89mm. When u use b20 stroker on b18c engine.. You must do a little mode to the b18 oiljet / oil squirter.. If not your b18c engine will kebabooooommmmmm..

Rev Limit: 7200 rpm
Transmission: Y80/S80
JDM version is marked B18B on the block without any number.
JDM version has a compression 9.4:1 where the usdm version is 9.2:1.
JDM version has a higher compression ratio which results in higher hp and tq levels than the usdm version.

There is more then one B18. The B18a/b has an 89mm Stroke just like a B20. As with any Stroker engine you will make more torque with a Longer Stroke. However you cant rev it as high.

The differences bewteen the B18b(81mm bore) and the B20b/z Is 84mm Bore, Different pistons and Cams. One of the JDM heads had vtec valves instead of non-vtec valves.

If you use B20/b18b Crank, you will want to use b20/b18b rods.

#262388 I think the big valve b20 head is the p8r casting then, that's the head I had on my boosted ls I never paid attention to the valve size, but the ports looked pretty healthy, and my usdm b20 had a p75 casting head on it, so that must have been the difference, good info in this thread :thumb:

Not 100% true. You can delete the oil jets, or modify them to clear. If they don't clear, it's not going to blow up the engine. Just cause oil pressure to be a little lower because the oil jet orifice is broken off and there's a slightly larger hole.

OP, the B20 and B18A/B cranks are the same with an 89mm stroke. The B18C boasts an 87.2mm stroke. You MUST use the rods that correspond with the crank. Period. Your engine will actually grenade itself otherwise.

#262545 ^ very true the gsr rods are actually narrower
