ok so i want to build a ls/vtec but i dont want to keep the motor. my main purpose of the build is not only to build a motor but a good one that will get my name out so people will want me to build a motor for them.
right now its just a simple plan ls bottom end with p30 pistons and a stock b16a head with maybe gsr cams, arp head, main, rod bolts, acl race rod and crank bearings. no other parts just a long block, no intake manifold, no header. but with just the pistons and a golden eagle ls/vtec kit im looking at $570. thats not including the block or head.
so what im asking is how much is a ls/v worth buying put together with out any performance parts and the one im building

I can tell you this from the way I look at it. I will not buy a LS/VTEC or a B20/VTEC from anyone that is already built. Building a good/reliable one isnt cheap or easy. It takes time and dedication. If you truly want to make a name for yourself as a good/reliable engine builder, then build one and put it in your car. Go to events and win/place high. If you build a good motor and showcase it as such then you will get people asking for one. But with all the different shops out there that have already made a name for themselves it will be quite hard.

When building, try and think of reliability rather then horsepower

I know you can make LS/V's and b20/V's reliable, however it takes alot to do it. Most people who make a LS/V or B20/V just slap a b16 head on an ls block and call it good.
I would personally rather have a H22 swap or a H2B Setup over a LS/V or B20/V. why? Honda OEM reliability and more Torque from the bottom end. Plus for how much buildilng a Reliable LS/V or B20/V you can snatch up a JDM H22A.
