i change the oil today first time since i made the b20vtec build.
and i was driving home, and all of a sudden i started hearing a clanking noise coming from the engine every time i accelerate, and then it starts to sort of break up, kinda like a baffle sound along with the clanking sound.
Im totally stumped on this, i dont know wats wrong.
I know its the head, but what in the head? its a b16a head by the way..
HELP PLEASE!!

Is it only when your accelerating? It could be a spun bearing or even could of left something in the head. :? Take your valve cover off an check if anything is out of place if its truely coming from your head.

well i took off te valve cover and saw that two ( 2 ) of the tappet nuts were loose by the #4 piston on the exhaust side, so i torqued it down.
But the noise is still there and the car is still breaking up...only when cross bout 3000 rpm, i dont get it the car isn't over heating or anything..whats causing this?? :?

Even though u said that u only hear the noise from the head, it still kinda sounds like u spun a bearing to me. :?

have you checked your compression yet? Loose bolts are not a good sign. If your compression is good id check your bottom end.

funny this is if you think its coming from the head you have to put ur head towards the head and the block this what happen to my ls with the lose nuts an i did the valve adjustment and the knocking was coming from the blk , so trust me i know whats going on and its my first swap :x but now iam do a swap

i dont think its the bearing cuz, while the idles it sounds normal
but as so as u amp up the revs the clicking noise appears,
if the bearing was gone it would of made noises while idling "correct me if im wrong"
the car is by my mechanic tomorrow we'll know for sure wat it is when we open up every thing .....i'll post up wat it is when i find out , jus incase anybody has similar issues

"man i hope its not the bearing" :(

I just spun my bearing in my d16 an the noise isnt there until i put a load on it. Then it starts knocking. So yes when your car is at idle it wont make a noise unless its really bad. Take your oil pan off an see if theres metal shavings in it. An if there is i suggest taking your whole motor apart an cleaning it an making sure all the jurnals are clear. An then polish your crank before you put the new bearings on.
