best way to remove head gasket material

Like the title says I need to know the best way to remo e the black hg material from thee block and underside of the head. All tips and secretes are needed lol :)

Razor blade, scotchbrite, rubbing alcohol, plastic scraper, basically anything you can use to clean a gasket off of anything.

i wet sanded mine off after removing as much as i could with a razor blade ... you have to be careful with sanding as it can cause a deformation of the head/block.

I used a 12" long block style sander to help keep everything as level as possible.

Of course my block was on a engine stand and got cleaned EXTREMELY well after i did that.

I like razor blades but be very careful to keep the blade flat as possible so you don't put any nicks or gouges on the mating surface.

sounds good guys, ill try all of that because i have been trying put the stuff seamed to be like in the metal its like black marks on the surface now, nothing actually flakey on there

Use a window scraper. Its what I use all the time.
