just bought a eg vti, it has a b16sir engine fitted tho which has teg type r cams, pulleys, injectors and inlet. it runs ok but just doesnt seem all that fast. when hitting vtec theres plenty noise but no real performance until it gets to around 7000rpm. it still has the standard vti ecu fitted tho so am i right in thinking that idealy it needs a remap to get most out of the engine, and that right now with the different cams the fueling is off and thats creating the flatspot in vtec?

yup. get a ecu. running those fuel maps and going WOT is gonna lead to some serious damage..
EDIT: wait, the Vti comes with a B16 right? adding some bolt-ons shouldn't make it run like shit..is it throwing a CEL?? (check engine light)

yea the vti has a b16 uk engine, thats not the engine i have in car tho, its been swapped for a import sir b16 with all that teg cams etc already on it.
it puts an engine light on if you hit the limiter (stays off as soon as i switch off engine and then start it again), the limiter seems to come in pretty late tho, on 9000rpm id say, thats defo later than the standard b16 would come in, so im thinking its just the ecu not being mapped to this new engine thats causing it. does that sound right?
i wouldnt say its running like shit, just it seems to have flatspots and just doesnt feel all that fast (iv had a standard uk b16 before and it was faster than this engine), its mechanicaly sound.

Take it to a shop and get it tuned. The ecu wasnt designed for the RPM, or cams.
