I have a 92 Honda Hatchback with a B18b1(LS/VTec) swap in it. I was wondering if i could just buy a b16a1 bottom end n bolt it on to my B16 head? If so would this be a smart thing to do?
Please i need some help.

you would have to remove all the tapping from the head that was required for the lsv. it would make your car wayy more reliable but if your having no problems i would just leave it. oits would be quite some work. up to you tho depending on what your plans for the car are

Take care of the motor you have in the car. With the right care and maintenence they are perfect motors.
The problems come from shoddy work while building them. They can be plenty reliable when done correctly. Just as must as a stock honda motor.

Once again, not mine, but very useful. A must know for these motors. Im not saying dont build the motor, just make sure you are doing it right.

Alright juice this is what I ment to say
Quote from greasedmonkey
So PLEASE read carefully the following: B18A, B18B, and the B20* Family of motors have a 6900-7200 RPM fuel-cut, and yet many people seem to believe they can safely rev this same bottom end to 9000+RPM in LS/Vtec setups. Well, Here's the 'truth'. The 'ls' lets just call them, Family of motors have a low redline for a reason, a very simple reason "They were NEVER designed to spin THAT fast" The rods themselves, as well as much of the rotating assembly is MUCH heavier than that of a B16/B18C motor. These motors were DESIGNED with light, precisely engineered internal components that allow for this high rate of travel *ala 7000+RPM* Also, keep in mind,

It also states the the STOCK bottom ends are not meant for over 7k rev'ing. If you build it correctly you wont have a completely STOCK bottom end.
If you want to use the stock rods, it can be done, but you will have to shot pene(sp) and use ARP rod bolts. That makes them stronger and able to hold up better at higher rpms. Then after that, you need to balance the rotating parts.
I also posted up HOW-TO for building one of these reliably. Dont just quote from one thing I posted. Use both.
