I have a friend that has this car but won't say what Eng it is honestly I don't think she knows what it is!

Looks like a Turbo B16.

However it could be any B Series bottom end with a B16 Head on it.




Look for this stamping on the engine. It will be on the front next to where the engine and transmission meet. That will tell you the engine code.

If it has b18a1 or b18b1 its an lsvtec, if it has b20b or b20z its a b20 vtec or if it has b18c1 its a poor mans type-r. if it says b16 then its a normal b16 with a turbo kit.

she paid for the eng swap a year ago and got the turbo kit just recent

I can't tell by looking at it but I know about the eng code thing just haven't seen the car in person in a while. was hoping someone could tell

If its a stock swapped engine, then its a b16. Mainly as its the DOHC VTEC head, and it has a B16 Intake Manifold on it. the b18c GSR Head has a different intake manifold and the b16 manifolds dont bolt up to the b18c gsr head.

There is a super remote chance its a b17 as they share the same head as the b16, however its very doubtful since less then 5000 b17 engines where made.

Your most likely looking at a b16a (no way to know if its jdm b16a, or usdm b16a2 or a3 with out looking at code)

Its not a B16b. All B16b's come with Red Valve Covers, the one pictured is an OEM Black Finish one.

thats good info it's probably a b16a or a2 even then

you could tell what Gen it is by looking at the valve cover
first gen B16 i think has small "dohc" and Big "vtec" and second gen has big "dohc" and small "vtec"

and i think GSR valve covers says honda motor co. on it. or just honda. its one of those you just have to look at one.
