ive got a vti hatch its a 1992 but it came with a decat pipe standad out of the factory is this right ?

As far as i know, Every EG came out of the Honda Factory with a Catalitic Converter. They need them to pass Emissions.

Its quite possible that whoever had your EG before you removed the Catalitic converter, Trying to get more power from the engine.

there is a law in the UK that any car reggiested after august 1992 has to have a cat , but my civic is reggiestered march 1992 which mean's if im right it wouldnt have a cat

why did you ask a question you knew the answer to?

the only reason i asked this is because my friend has a cat on his 91 civic

fair enough... kinda strange that his 91 has one... it could have been put on by someone who wasnt aware of that law?

the only thing i can thing of is that the guy who had it before my friend mite of put it on the quiton the car down due to it been a EX show car

As far as I know all Eg's came with a cat over here as well, but at the end of the day all that really matters is that it passes emission test set for the vehicle type in the year of manufacture.

As you state though the cut off is august 1992 after that you have to have a cat. So if your car can pass emissions with out a cat then you will be okay, but I'm pretty sure they came with a cat from factory for a reason a reason. There is one way to find out and that is when MOT time comes.
