ok so with the high miles my car has i have been thinking of swapping it. But i need something reliable. Now i hear alot of bad things and alot of good things about b20vtec. i kno if done right its a badass swap. I dont plan on doing to much to it i jus want a decent amount of power. So i was wondering if i got b20 with like 80xx miles on it and got a b16 head and wasnt cheap about the swap and got all the right parts needed will it b reliable stock. Or will it b a headache to swap it in to my ej1. Would like to hear from people who have done the swap already please.

The swap itself is no big deal. There is actually a step by step write up on how to do it here on the site.

Just a lil something to keep in mind.......the B20 block has 33% thinner cylinder walls than other B series motors.

I'd just do an H series and call it a day.

yea i saw the topic but will admit i didnt read alot of it. I wanted to go with the b20 because of its torque and i found a good deal on it. I looked into wat you said about the cylinder walls=[ maybe a b18 would b better

I'm tellin ya....just go with an H. You'll still have good torque, and they are fairly cheap. :thumb:

B18 would be a better option as far as the strength of the cylinder walls, but you lose a little bit of torque. IMO, good tradeoff.

Like Mike said, use the right parts, do it right, and don't cut corners. The engine will bolt straight in with no fitment problems. There are several threads on this site that outline the bare minimum parts necessary for a proper LS/VTEC or B20/VTEC swap into the EG chassis.

The thread on the LS/vtec will help you alot in building it and making it reliable. You should read it completely.

As for the H swap. Im not a big fan of it, but a H2B is a easy swap and makes some nice power.
