Anyone know where I can find an alternator for an itr motor? Is there any problem using a gsr or b16? I'm pricing a build and looking for something that won't break or wear out easy.

I'm pretty sure they don't work, but I don't know off hand. I'll check some part numbers. If they're the same, yes. If not, no.

GSR and ITR have different part numbers.

B16A2 and ITR have different part numbers.

I'm going to say that you need to use an ITR alternator. That's based solely on part numbers. If it were my engine, I'd use the parts that coincide with the engine.

part numbers never match from model to model, they just make a new part number, i'm going to have to say that most b series alt's should be the same, obd1 to obd1 and obd2 to obd2, for example all 88-00 civics use the same brakes same as 90-00 integras, but they have like a zillion different part numbers at auto parts stores.

At parts stores, if it's the same part from model to model and year to year, they won't break it up into different parts.

When I said the part numbers were different, I was on www.hondapartsunlimited.com Usually, if the part is the same between models and years, the part number doesn't change.

I'm not 100% on the B-series alternators being universal though. I'd just get the part that was made for my engine. That's just me.

well i was just saying the brake parts from the civics and integras are obviously the same, but the part numbers are not, i would assume the mounts for the alt should be the same from any 94-2000 integra, the only diff would possibly be the wiring on a obd1 car vs an obd2, and maybe the output capability.

I DO know that the alternators all put out 90amps. And you're right, the wiring is obviously different between the OBDI and OBDII vehicles. I also think you're right on the mounting points (more than likely).

So it would make sense that they are all the same. But again, if you go to an auto parts store, tell them the year, make, and model of the car your engine came from so you get exactly what you need. It's just easier to do it that way, IMO.

lol. Good discussion. I'll definitely be looking for the right part, but this was more for if I happened upon a suitable supp. Thanks for all the input, and I hope I can get more debates like this from other questions I post in the future!

Like I said, I'm always ready to give help/advice where I can. If I can't, I won't chime in unless I'm looking for the answer as well. If I'm wrong and someone proves me wrong, I'll admit it and cease to dole out false information.

Im pretty sure the B16a, GSR, LS, and ITR can all use the same alt. Just make sure the OBD system matches your car.

How else would EGs get ITR swaps, if you had to use a obd2 itr alt.?

My LS, and B20 have used the same alt, that was on a GSR and B16a
