Hey guys... well after a long time trying to be part of the B SERIES enthusiasts, I finally bought my b18b + Y80 tranny...
The results are great, the hatch runs awesome but I have a question.
The Y80 its supposed to be 4.40 FD. Yesterday I was driving with my brother on the highway (he has a D16z6 4.25 FD) and I told him to drive at the same gear and at the same RPM's than me to prove the difference form the FDs...
Surprise!!! we were rolling at the same speed!!! (2nd gear, 3000rpm's) I tried with different speeds and gears but the same happened!
Now the question... How can I be sure or test my tranny to know if it has really 4.40 FD internals?? This without bringing down the tranny to count the FD teeth???
Thanks for your answers...

Depending on the engine it's mated to, the Y80 can be either a 4.4:1 or a 4.266:1. Chances are you have the LS transmission with the 4.266:1 FD.

Does the transmission have a VIN plate on it? If so, here is a VIN decoder from Team-Integra:

2nd gear, 3000rpm is roughly 30mph on the LS transmission. (I daily an Integra LS...)

The y80 sticker is put on all the Bseries trannies with a hydro clutch.
Both my GSR and B16a trannies have had it. The reason you were the same as your friends z6 is becuase the LS tranny is geared almost exactly the same.

where should I look for the VIN plate on the trans???
thanks for the info, I hate not knowing what I have!!! They sold me the tranny as a 4.40, in case I need to argue something with the seller!!

there's a sticker next to the Engine Number that says Y80-1055972. That's the only thing I can find around the tranny.
Is there something different on the shape of the transmissions?? its because right by where is gets together with the engine, it seems its not a completely match, but I'm not mechanic tho...
Maybe its a noob questions but there's no stupid question, only the stupid guy that keeps the doubt...
thanks a lot!!

That is the serial number for the tranny. Using that you should be able to determine what motor it came off I think.
One of the easiest ways to tell if you have a VTEC tranny is to cruise at 70 mph. look at the RPMs, 4k or more and you have a 4.4 final.

do it in 5th. My b16a tranny is at or over 4k at 70...its been a while.
I just checked and the y80 on this site says its a GSR tranny. but so is S80.
70 in 5th @ 3100 rpms is a LS
70 in 5th @3500 is a GSR
70 in 5th @ 4000 is a B16a
