Posted: Tue Oct 04, 2016 8:35 pmOkay so is it as simple as removing the crank gear for the timing belt and removing and replacing the main seal? Or do you need to drop the pan? I am only asking cause I just redid the oil pan gasket about a month or 2 ago and only put 500 miles on it since. But I would hate to remove the pan again if I didn't have to.

Posted: Wed Oct 05, 2016 2:31 pmPan does not have to come off. Remove pulley, timing belt, gears, washers, etc. Front main is built into the oil pump. I use a small snap on seal extractor. Basically I drill a small pilot hole, screw this puller in, and it has a small slide hammer to remove the seal. Clean the surfaces, and then install the new seal. I use a large socket and a soft mallet to install the seal evenly.
