#353534 This is what is in the 94 automatic civic ex I have....

Can anyone tell me about this? I assume no vtec because of the spark plugs... But anyone tell me anything? Y would this be in this civic?

#353572 I don't see it.

I just looked up this combo and there should be no reason it's in my 94 ex coupe

teal_dx wrote:Correct. Somebody must have either traded heads from a 88-91 dx/lx or blew up the z6 head and put Pm3-8 on instead cause it was dirt cheap.

I wanna know what head should be on there? Is the bottom end even from a 94 ex? Should I do a head swap? What benefits would I get from it?

The correct head should be a D16z6 head, which I believe is code P08.

To be sure the block is correct, look for a D16z6 stamping in the front, below the head, where the engine and trans meet. Like this: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6113/7016 ... 7d6b54.jpg

#353649 No it says d15b... So was the whole motor swapped then?

How do I make it a vtec? The d16z6 head?

#353668 You could use the D16z6, D16y8, or JDM D15b vtec head. The d16y8 head will yield higher compression ratio. The D16z6 and maybe the D16y8 head may be off 1/2 a tooth on timing, which means you'll need an adjustable cam gear. I don't know for sure if that will be the case, as I don't have any experience with the D15b block. I know that if you put a D16z6 head on a D15b7 block, the timing will be of by 1/2 a tooth. I'm not sure if the D15b and D15b7 block will both cause this or not.

I know there are like 2 different d15b vtec heads... Does it matter which one?

I really appreciate the help sir... what all would I need besides the head, vtec solenoid, and distributor?

#353724 You'll need the ecu and wiring harness, or just add the 2 wires for vtec to your current harness. If your motor doesn't have the D15b vtec intake manifold, you will want to get that as well.
