Wire in Vtec?

Buddy of mine got a 95 dx coupe with a D15b swap in it. We noticed that he has vtec but not plugged, searched his entire harness for the 2 plugs and couldn't find em, looked at his Ecu and its a po6 iirc

Did they do a lazy swap and use a non vtec ecu? I wasn't sure if all honda ecu's could be tapped for vtec or if he would need a complete ecu swap ?

I believe the P06 ecu is from a DX, which does not have Vtec, the harness that came with the car would not have the wiring either.

You could possibly add vtec to the ecu, but I am not sure. depends on the motherboard. I have read about this somewhere. best would be to get a P28. you will only have to run a couple wires from the ECU to the vtec solenoid.

my $0.02

p28 and p06 have same circuit board, but there are more than one.
if you can solder, you can convert it yourself.

Wiring details are in the mini me swap DIY

Like you said, they probably did the swaP and didn't feel like spending the extra coin on a p28.
