#305862 ive got probably a stupid question. ive got the d16z6 in my car. was told the vtec hits at 4500.. is that right? i really dont feel it. could the sensor be bad?

#305869 Stock it should kick at 5300 or 5500 and go until redline. 4500 is low unless it has a chipped ecu. And if you are completely stock no mod's you really won't feel it or hear hit. Put an intake on only and you will hear the change over.

#305930 its not very pronounced in sohc motors intakes offer the sound alot better than stock airboxes, but your more apt to feel it on a dohc vtec motor and yes it should kick in around 5200 or so

EDIT : meant vtec not ctec lol

#305936 The d16z6 vtec crossover point is 4800 rpm like they said you won't really hear it on a stock setup

Is there a way you could modify the ecu from 5500-5300 rpm vtec kick into lower rpm?

#306218 Yes you have to have your ecu chipped. Or find one that's chipped and make sure its a vtec ecu and unless your good with a soldering iron have it done by a professional and reputable shop

#306221 ah so if my car has p28 in it, it needed to be matched or replaced?

I don't know much about the computer and ecu system, lol
